Welcome
Health at the heart of the community is the theme of Victoria's 4th biennial Rural Health Conference. The Conference focuses on the opportunities and challenges associated with building a high quality and sustainable rural health system in this State.
The Conference will focus on the three priorities identified in Rural directions–for a stronger healthier Victoria, launched by the department in October 2009
- Improving the health of rural Victorians
- Supporting a contemporary health system
- Strengthening and sustaining rural health services.
Rural health is a very high priority for the Victorian Government and the Department of Health. Rural health services are an integral part of local communities, contributing to the community’s well-being and sustainability. The cooperation and coordination seen between services demonstrates what can be achieved when all work together to support high-quality health care in local communities.
The Conference promises to provide a stimulating program covering issues specific to health services in rural communities and to showcase health services’ innovations. The Conference is also a great opportunity to establish new or to strengthen existing professional networks.
I strongly encourage all those interested in promoting the health and well-being of rural and regional Victorians to attend the Rural Health Conference 2010 – or better still submit a paper or poster.
See you in Ballarat.
